Big z glass
Master Craftsman
Big Z’s journey began in the small town of La Crosse, Wisconsin. Before he was a master of the torch, he was a master of the game. His path took him from the football fields of Mesa State to a life-changing move to Colorado in 2000. He spent years exploring every art medium imaginable, while earning his associates degree in art in 2003 from Colorado State University. The real spark happened when Z’s close friend Rob opened a head shop and offered to share the basics of the glass-blowing craft. Z found his calling, and he didn’t find his style or his passion in a formal classroom; he forged it on his own, spending countless hours at the torch in his garage, turning raw heat into refined art. The search was over; the playbook was traded for glass, and a new trajectory was set. For over two decades, Z has been perfecting his signature ‘Space Tech’ style—a world where technical precision meets a deep, cosmic aesthetic. As he celebrates his 45th year this February, we are proud to showcase the out-of-this-world work of an artist who has spent more than 20 years as a full-time pioneer in the craft. The spark that ignited on a whim in a head shop quickly became a lifelong passion for the torch. Big Z isn’t just making glass; he is pushing the boundaries of what the borosilicate medium can achieve. We are honored to bring the cosmic visions of Big Z Glass to the Den of Dabs as our first Featured Artist of the Month.
